Enabling Multi-cloud and Hybrid Cloud

Applications that transfer data via the public internet can be slow, insecure, and expensive. Direct Connect is the answer.

Fast, consistent performance

Provision private connections with guaranteed bandwidth and a minimal number of network hops.

Strong Security

Keep your data safe by sending it to Vultr through trusted network partners or via a private physical connection.

Lower Costs

For bandwidth-heavy applications, a direct connection that avoids the public internet can significantly cut costs.

Enterprise-Grade Connectivity

Vultr provides flexible connectivity options so you can easily and reliably use our cloud along with your other enterprise infrastructure.

Hosted connectivity
A hosted private connection from external infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP, your own colo) to Vultr via a trusted service provider.

FAQ

How do I start a direct connect?

To get started, fill out the Direct Connect form.

A LOA (letter of authorization) will be provided which you can then use to order a cross-connect from the data center provider.

Once connected, we will work with you to apply necessary configurations for you to reach one or more of your Vultr VPCs.

In what locations is this feature available?

Direct Connect is available in all Vultr locations.

How do I extend my corporate network from my office to Vultr?

See our Direct Connect guide for details about our transport provider partners and network architecture examples.

Are any other options available to reach Vultr Direct Connect?

We offer direct physical connections in our data centers, and also provide connectivity via PacketFabric and Megaport.

Can I use this to connect to my instance's VPC?

Yes, but you will only be able to connect to VPCs within the same locations as your physical connections.

What are the benefits of using Direct Connect?

Using Vultr Direct Connect provides:

  • • Improved security by bypassing the public internet
  • • Reduced latency and jitter
  • • Higher and more consistent throughput
  • • Better reliability and performance for enterprise applications
  • • Dedicated bandwidth and traffic prioritization

How is Vultr Direct Connect different from a VPN?

A VPN uses the public internet to create secure tunnels, while Vultr Direct Connect uses a private, dedicated line for a direct connection – offering significantly better performance, lower latency, and enhanced security.

Who should use Vultr Direct Connect?

It is ideal for:

  • • Enterprises running latency-sensitive applications
  • • Organizations with hybrid cloud or multicloud architectures
  • • Businesses needing secure data transfer to/from Vultr
  • • High-volume data processing and storage workloads
  • • SaaS providers and financial institutions

Which data centers support Vultr Direct Connect?

Direct Connect is available at select Vultr data centers globally. Availability can be confirmed through my.Vultr or by contacting sales.

What kind of bandwidth does Direct Connect offer?

Vultr Direct Connect supports scalable bandwidth options, typically ranging from 1 Gbps to 10+ Gbps, depending on customer requirements and location.

How do I get started with Vultr Direct Connect?

Request a Direct Connect session through theVultr dashboard or by reaching out to a Vultr representative for connection details and provisioning steps.

Is there redundancy or failover support?

Yes. Vultr recommends establishing redundant connections to ensure high availability and failover protection in case of a single link failure.

Can I use Vultr Direct Connect with multiple Vultr services?

Yes. Once established, a Direct Connect link can be used to access multiple Vultr services, including compute, storage, and Kubernetes environments, across supported regions.

How does Vultr Direct Connect enhance performance for multi-cloud data replication workflows?

Vultr Direct Connect provides dedicated, high-throughput links that reduce latency and improve data consistency during replication between Vultr and other cloud providers – critical for multi-cloud database mirroring and backup strategies.

What are the key differences between Layer 2 and Layer 3 connections with Vultr Direct Connect?

Vultr Direct Connect supports both Layer 2 (point-to-point VLAN) and Layer 3 (routed IP) connectivity, enabling flexible integration with enterprise routing architectures, whether customers manage BGP sessions directly or prefer managed routing.

How does Direct Connect integrate with Vultr Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) for hybrid deployments?

Vultr Direct Connect enables direct private access to VPCs, allowing secure, high-speed communication between on-premises networks and isolated cloud environments, supporting hybrid workloads such as cloud bursting or disaster recovery.

What SLA and QoS guarantees are available with Vultr Direct Connect for mission-critical traffic?
