How To Restore a Snapshot

Last Updated: Wed, Sep 2, 2015
FAQ

Introduction

Snapshots make a complete image backup of your server, rather than individual file backups. This tutorial explains how to restore snapshots on Vultr. For more about snapshots, see the article Vultr VPS Snapshots.

Restore Procedure

To restore a snapshot, deploy a new server with the snapshot selected at My Vultr.

Choose your server type and location. At the operating system section, select "Snapshot" instead of an actual OS, then select your snapshot in the dropdown. The snapshot description is the hostname of your server. Make sure that you use an equal or bigger disk size than the original server. Once your selections are correct, click "Deploy Now".

A new VPS will be launched based on your snapshot. Once it boots, it is ready for use. If you need to make networking changes, see this guide.
